Seeing all these suggestions, I had a feeling that may be it should be
upgradeable in a way similar to adding cards with different functions to
computers: Just have the slots on the base rig; if you want to add
something, build the card and plug it in. This would make life easier for
those of us who are not into melting solder, too, provided we can get the
base and the cards ready made.
