I didn't use Spectrogram for that reason. 

What I did use was one of the data mode programs which has a waterfall and a spectrum display. I used MixW - which is my main datamode program - and in its spectrum display mode which did the job very well. MixW you can download and use free for 15 days or so, quite long enough for CAL FIL work.
