[Elecraft] Elecraft CW Net Report for July 30th & 31st, 2006

Wow!  Great nets!  A lot of work digging for weak signals but we did it.   
We even had XE2URF stop by and CQ on top of us ;)  After a little prodding  
he politely moved elsewhere.  Nice of him, I appreciate his propriety.   
Two new provinces in Canada today too: Prince Edward Island and Quebec.

Twenty meters was a bit stronger than forty meters but forty had its share  
of check ins.  It also had its share of QRN, QRM, and QSB!  Made it more  
difficult to dig out the very weakest.  At one point we had to tell WI6O  
to try next week.  I could copy his call but not much else.  His K1 was  
just readable to me and ESP or less to Tom.  I was able to relay the call  
in but could not have relayed in the information.  Luckily John checked in  
last week and I was able to get his information then.

I am a bit stiff and getting stiffer.  I expect I'll need to roll out of  
bed tomorrow when I awaken ;)  But, I've got quite a load of wood cut and  
ready to be split.  If Ms. Pat were here that part would be done and it  
would be stacked outside to air dry for a few months.  I'll get to  
splitting and stacking each evening this week.  The weather turned cool  
enough to where cutting wood does not cause heat stroke.  However, the  
chainsaw does play hobb with my fine motor skills.  At one point my  
paddles got a little loose so I passed the net to Tom and found a  
screwdriver.  That helped a bit but my fingers were starting to get stuck  
in one position or another.  I seem to be getting old!  How could that be  
happening?  Hmmm... any ideas?

Thirty-one check ins!  Not a record but it is great anyway.  Each net ran  
for over an hour with only a little dead time.  Now as the season changes  
to autumn the bands will only get better.  Plus we are going to be getting  
more solar activity one of these years.  That will be a fun time.

email them to me and I will fix the database to reflect the new  
information.
