Gert,

Someone else will have to help you with your first question, I have no
experience with that tuner.

The signalling between the KIO2 and KPA100 (or KAT100) is done over the
single wire communications bus called the AUXBUS - it is Elecraft
proprietary and is not likely to work with gear of other manufacturer.  As
far as I know, Elecraft has no arrangement with any other manufacturer for
the use of this signalling protocol.
