How about VoIP and 802.11b?

2.4 GHz, 200 mW consumer grade radios and 24 dbi flat panel antennae will do
nicely. With the 6 degree beamwidth, your aiming isn't even critical.

  I believe I need a lens with a long focal length to better collumate the
beam.  The question is where does one get a lens that has a focal length
measurable in several meters?
