Folks,

After Doug's (WS3X)  mistaken posting (thinking he was being spammed by 
the monthly list password reminder email) asking to be removed from the 
list, he received a number of mean spirited and even profane direct 
emails from list members. One list member even posted his (and his 
wife's) personal information to the list! (Yes, that information can be 
found via various web search engines, but adding to the proliferation of 
this personal info via a post here was mean spirited and caused both 
Doug and his wife a lot of lost sleep.) All of these emails were totally 
inappropriate and to be honest, I'm shocked.

A little thought by the senders before hitting the enter key might have 
stopped the majority of these.

Please remember in all postings to the list and direct emails to 
Elecraft list members that harassing or profane language is not allowed 
by the list guidelines. Failure to adhere to this policy will result in 
your removal from list membership. Period.

Apologies to Doug are also appropriate.

This is the first time I've had to take action of this sort. I hope it 
is the last. To be honest, I'm amazed that so many people forgot that 
this is just a hobby and that they could be so mean spirited in their 
emails. Fortunately 99% of our over 2,000 Elecraft list members do not 
fit into that category and are just having a good time building, 
operating and enjoying ham radio. Let's keep that part emphasized :-)  
Your positive feedback and regular interchanges on this list are a good 
part of what keeps us motivated to think up new products. Let's get back 
to that endeavor.
