[Elecraft] K1 in big contest

Gerhard -

You'll definitely have fun especially if you are just looking to spend a few
hours in the contest.

I run my K1 @ 200Hz during contests and it separates the stations well. I
hear the front end is not as bulletproof as the K2's but I have not
experienced intermod in any of the major contests. Perhaps people are
referring to multi-op stations where the strong RF is very local.

You'll only wish you brought the K2 if you suddenly get the urge to work
SSB, RTTY or all bands. I run 40/30/20/15 and with the 40/30/20 I pretty
much can get test QSO's at any time of the day.

In my opinion the 5W transmitter in the K1 is outclassed by the RX. In
other words...you'll have no problem copying someone who can copy your
signal beneath the test QRM.
