Rick,
Yes, the soldering is a good place to start.
A few simple things - did you forget to install C6 on the bottom of the
board? Did you install C6 properly in the two outer holes of the set of 3
holes? Did you install the jumpers?
Try some 'Quick and Dirty Signal Tracing' - Tom Hammond has provided a good
set of instructions that you can download from the Elecraft website or I
believe they may still be posted at Tom's website www.n0ss.net .
Try touching an antenna to the collector of Q22 - then Q21 - can you hear a
signal if the antenna is placed at W6? How about at W1? There are more
places to check to refine the search for the problem area, but those can be
starters for you. Follw the progress of the signal through the schematic
for the easiest way to determine what is failing.
