[Elecraft] Off Topic Electronics Question

  I am building a FSK keyer for RTTY and the schematic calls for a NEC 2SC945 transistor.  What is a good equivalent that I can get at Radio Shack?  It is an NPN transistor and I wonder if a 2N2222 would work.  Just switching some lines on the Parallel port on and off.

In our day and age it seems that Common Sense is in short supply.  If you don't have any Common Sense - get some Common Sense and use it.  If you can't find any Common Sense, ask for help from somebody who has some Common Sense.  Is Common Sense devine?
