This is probably because it was not ignition noise. Cement trucks typically
use diesel engines (no spark ignition system). If the cement trucks had
generators (as opposed to alternators) in them (older electrical system or DC
welder on-board) in them or if they had on-board DC motor pumps/mixers then
what you probably heard was motor noise made by brush arcing.
