K2 VOX Defaults To ON at Turn ON --- Why ??
I was very disappointed to find that the K2 Vox/CW PTT defaults to the ON
state at Turn ON. With Vox Turned On, when you turn the rig on, it can
very
easily start pumping out full power you instant you turn the rig On.
By that I mean if the CW key was operated or the circuit closer key on a key

was operated, when you turn on the K2, it can come up to full output power.

And that’s a very bad thing. It could get you in a lot of trouble.
Like what has happened to me numerous times in the past several months.
There are several ways the Vox could be handled differently.
    1. Default Vox to come up OFF at turn On. (my choice)
    2. Provide Menu Opt to decide if it comes up ON or Off at Turn On.
    3. Retain Vox in Eprom memory -- comes up same way it was @ Turn Off.
I’ve been using the K2 for several months and the Vox defaulted to On at
Turn On
has already gotten me in trouble numerous times. What I do now -- is at
Turn On,
I immediately hold the Vox button down till Vox shuts off. Then when I
want to
output CW power, I turn the Vox On.
I cant think of even one reason who you would want the rig to come up to
full power
at Turn ON. I’m not sure if Vox originates in the SSB fireware chip or
not?
It probably does. Is there room in the
SSB Firmware to upgrade it to Option B above?
Am I missing something?
Is there something I just overlooked something and there is a way to default
it to OFF at turn on?
Or another way to get it working the way I want besides having to
immediately
turn the Vox off at turn off, probably after the rig came up putting out
full power,
a very bad thing.
