Hello all!
To all who asked about my Red Hot Vertical - here's where I'm at.
I'm still in the design stage, but I'm VERY excited at the results so
far. I just came in from testing the proto type and it looks great!
The antenna is a miniature VBWFPA No Pole, but with plug-in loading
coils.
The antenna uses 24 gauge red teflon-coated stranded wire. On 20m
there's no coil just a radiator wire, four ground radials and 25' of
RG8X coax. On 40m and 30m you just unplug the coax and plug in a loading
coil for either 40m or 30m. I wound the coils on film canisters and put
a female bnc on each end. The entire antenna except the coax will fit in
a small plastic baggie!
The SWRs look great: 1.1:1 @ 14.060mhz and 1.2:1 @ 7.040mhz
I have to make a 30m coil and check that band , but it should work
great!
This antenna is a backpacker's dream!
More to come later.

Ed, WA3WSJ
