Hi
From time to time I read postings about the pain of removing the
heatsink panel from the finals in the K2, but really it isn't as bad as it
seems if approached from the right angle.
What I have done in the past, is put the K2 on it's side and remove the
panel screws,( including the 2 on the under side) then carefully undo each
nut holding all the spacer hardware together, and carefully push the bolts
back until just below flush with the heat sink panel, and then equally as
carefully, remove the panel. Once it is off, put the nuts back on the bolts
and everything stays together. (Theoretically) :-)
I have used this technique since my first attempt at disassembly resulted
in an extended crawl around the workshop floor looking for fallen hardware.
Just be *very* careful of the thermal insulators. They are very easily
punctured by any foreign objects that may land on them while you have the
heat sink off. If in doubt replace them.( they cost a lot less than a new
pair of 2SC1969's)
Cheers......Ron ZL1TW
