[Elecraft] K1 on 80/40m Novice bands?

I make a habbit to cruise the Novice sub-bands looking for calls to work. I call CQ for about 5 minutes on several frequencies in each sub-band. I rarely get any response on 80M, maybe 1 a week, but 40m produces at least 1 each evening. I have not found any stations working in the Novice sub-band on 15M since July. I can't even find non-Novice stations working in the CW sub-band on 10m so forget that until the sun spot cycle picks up again.

I think 40m would be a much better choice. At least there is activity there.

If your new ham wants to work someone for practice, shoot me an email and we will schedule some sessiona. I will gladly give him practice.
