Norm,
Glue, yes, but SuperGlue on rubber does not work very well - the superglue
hardens (becomes inflexible) and the rubber must still flex, so it will come
off in time. I built a K2 recently and found the pads reluctant to stick
too - so maybe Elecraft needs to monitor their pad vendor's process for a
bit, or it may be that the problem is now solved but a few bad ones slipped
through, and a few of us "unfortunates" got kits with bad adhesive.
Rubber cement is a better choice, double sided tape is another, contact
cement will work great, and many of the automotive glues specifically for
rubber (or vinyl) to metal will work superbly - many of these are a form of
contact cement, especially if the instructions indicate that you should let
the glue surfaces dry (or 'tack up') before mating the surfaces.
