[Elecraft] K1 Thoughts

Hi,

Bought K1 kit with backlight option. When reading what follows remember that 
I'm getting older (aren't we all)...

[1] After checking that the U1 fits snugly into the socket the next 
instruction is to remove it. IMHO it may be safer not to do this - just one 
less thing to get wrong, but not a big problem.

[2] After assembling the front panel I have both a 100k and 220 ohm resister 
left over. I've check many times. Maybe these are R17 and R18 which aren't 
in the list or the circuit diagram.

I will not get any more K1 assembly work done this week I think - got to 
manage the computer systems for a big cards tournament this coming week / 
weekend.

FWIW got the Buddipole working very well with my IC-703 but used different 
tuning values to those in the Buddipole documentation. Should be out 
Saturday / Sunday with IC-703 and Buddipole, still got to tune the KX-1 
properly.
