Most of the cells in the battery pack are already connected with Ni ribbons, 
Just cut the ribbons in the middle or only pull the ribbons off of the dead 
cells and all the  good ones will have welded ribbons on them and that will make 
them easy to solder.
If you get a bare cell, just mechanically clean the base material and solder 
away
as fast as possible.
