I agree...Don had a really nice display and there seemed to be a lot of
interest in it the times that I passed by during my stay there today. It was
clear that he put a lot of work into it and it was a nice, professional
display. I hope that it helped to generate some additional sales for the
fine folks at Elecraft. And I also appreciated the free Moon Pie, but as a
TRUE Southener, I feel that I must set the record straight. It has been my
experience that a real Moon Pie (the ones made in Chattanooga, TN) were only
designed to go with an RC Cola, not a Coke, hi hi. As a bit of history, we
Columbusites have numerous connections with the cola world. RC Cola was
started here in Columbus in 1905, and the originator of the Coca-Cola
formula, Dr. John Pemberton, was a pharmacist here and is buried here in
Linwood Cemetery. His home and apothecary shop are still located in our
historic district. The city of Atlanta likes to conveniently overlook the
fact that Pemberton first practiced here before moving to Atlanta in 1886,
where Coca-Cola was first sold to the public.
