Hello all,
I'll be headed down to Atlanticon ( QRP Conference) in Maryland so I
thought I'd activate a few lighthouses too. I plan to activate Turkey
Point Lighthouse (ARLHS USA-857) on Thursday, March 31st. This light had
the last female light keeper in the USA. It also had three other female
light keepers. The light was maintained by female keepers for just over
half of its existence or for 87 years. I called and obtained permission
to take pictures of the lens etc in the tower! I plan to use my Elecraft
K2 and a VBWFPA to activate this light. If you want to work a rather
unique light, this is the one. I will have to hike a trail one mile
through Elk Neck State Park to get to this lighthouse. More information
to come. For more information about this light, click on the links
below.
