The only thing that I have seen is an application note for the K1 
regarding using
a 9.6 V supply voltage and easily running 3W output.

Goto the Elecraft page

Click on "Tech Notes Articles" in the blue area

scroll down to the bottom of the page and you will see a link called
"K1/K2 Application notes"

select this link

You'll then see a note titled "Using the K1 with a 9.6V Battery pack".

P.S. This is the article where the  power out  = V * V / 25 formula
