Carel,

I won't be able to check it out here until later today, but I find it
strange to hear that it is not working for you with 2 stop bits.  The rules
for asynchronous data transmission is for the stop bit(s) to be at a mark
level, and any idle time is also held at a mark level - so any idle time
between characters should look just like an extended stop bit.  On the basis
of that thinking, it should  work with any number of stop bits - from one to
infinity.
