Hi Tim:

You might investigate the external SP2 speaker project listed on the
Elecraft website (Tech Notes Articles hyperlink).  Tom Hammond (among many
others) worked on this project to build a prototype external speaker
enclosed in an EC-2. It contains a small amplifier, mute circuit, and audio
contour network.  It completely eliminates the low audio problem that a few
have experienced with the K2 while providing a better frequency response.
The article is designed for the advanced builder who doesn't mind some
fabrication to duplicate the project.
