[Elecraft] Darn Dogs

Don,

Thanks for the advice, as far as I can see there is nothing wrong on the front panel other than a bent shaft of the encoder. I also looked at the control board and can't see anything wrong either.

Trying to think things through, at power up the processor must go through some power on self test, the fact that I get "ELE" on the display suggests that something fails early in the boot process. Hopefully someone knows what that is. I would love for it to be a test for the presence of the encoder. Anyway, I guess I will be SOL until Tuesday. Bummer because today I was going to enjoy operating, not sniffing lead.

Oh well, I might as well salvage what I can of the weekend and start building the options I have in hand.

I forgot who asked what kind of Terriers they were - two Cairns and a West Highland White.

Then order a new optical encoder, and look carefully for what has been
jarred loose. I suggest that you will likely find the display problem
associated with the front panel. Examine it closely for anything loose or
potential breaks in the PC board traces, and examine the solder
connections - if any look suspicious, re-solder. Try re-seating the
microprocessor on the Control Board - practicing good anti-static measures.
