Are you by any chance now in CW mode? Just a guess. If you are in CW instead
of SSB mode, keying the mic will produce CW sidetone.

While working on the ki02 the k2 transmitted on its own and smoked something
on the ssb board,  now I only hear a tone when I transmit with 
the mic.
I pulled the board and cw works ok. The ki02 still doesnt work Im not 
having a good day....
