of the article on K2 Dial Calibration.  There are several links to other
folks info (including Tom Hammond's).

Perhaps it will help with your understand of what the process is - if you
have ever dealt with a receiver with a BFO frequency knob, you should grasp
the principle easily - what you are actually doing is adjusting the BFO
frequency so the filter passband produces the audio spectrum (i.e. for voice
from 300 Hz to about 2600 Hz) that produces the best 'fidelity' on the
signal.
