You shouldn't need any special drivers. I have used a USB/Serial adaptor
with Mandrake without any problems. I can't remember the details but you
simply use /dev/USBtty0 or whatever port you are on.
Do a google and you will find the details; it's quite straight forward.
I would use Linux more for ham radio if there were more ham programmes.
I use if for everything else. But there is a lack of good logging
software and something like DxAtlas. Jlog is quite good, but doesn't do
much in the way of QSL management, label printing etc..
I tried running DxAtlas, HamCap etc under Win4Lin but they all fell over
on graphics issues on my laptop.
