Bill,

The pressure sleeve type of BNC plugs are the best ones to go for and I
believe are easier to fit. This uses a ferrule that is usually pushed under the
braid and on top of the centre core insulation (dielectric). On top of that on
the outer insulation is placed a soft plastic or rubber sleeve to make a firm
clamp on the braid when the connector is tightened and probably gives some
protection against ingress of moisture at that point. The only one that I've used
that was USA sourced was from King. Here in the the UK I have used Greenpar in
the past though as they pulled out of the business years back these are
getting difficult to obtain. Present supplies of pressure sleeve BNC connectors are
believed to be from from Taiwan.

The pressure sleeve type of connector is also available for N and the PL259
series. Makes a much more satisfactory job of terminating the braid.
