If any of you have had a similiar problem or you have a good idea of what
might be wrong, I would appreciate hearing from you. First, my K2 hears and
transmits well on all bands except 40 meters. I was able to do the alignment 2
and 3 successfully because the oscillators were working well during alignment 2
on 40 and fell within all parameters. I was not able to align 40 mtrs during
(transmit) alignment 3, but was able to align (peak) all other bands. I get
.2 watt output on 40 regardless of power setting. I do get a weak 40 mtr output
on receive with antenna connected to J4 (ant) connector. However, when I
connect the antenna center conductor to the cathode end of D7, the 40 meter band
comes to life. The signal is also good at pin 1 of J15 and slightly down on
pin 3. When I touch the antenna center conductor to the W6 bypass, I hear the
a very weak signal. The K1 relay postiions check out correctly for 40. I
have not removed K12 yet to check if it is ratching correctly. There is no way
to check this relay without removing it since LPF takes it to ground at the PA
output. I removed L25 and L26 and rewound them. I suspect the problem may be
a bad L2. I don't suspect K13 or K14 (VFO Range Selection) because I am able
to get a 40 meter received signal. I have checked all components in the 40
meter low pass filter and bandpass filter. They are installed correctly.
There are no solder bridges nor cold solder joints. I have resoldered the jumpers
at W1 and W6. I don't think it would be in the T-R Switch area since the
other bands are transmitting and receiving correctly.
I would appreciate any suggestions. Roy Morris W4WFB
