You guys that commented that bonding of grounding systems is required are
generally correct. You can expect to see some changes soon in the NEC
regarding this however. I was told the other day that some exceptions were
in the works to be added to sec 250 pertaining to isolated grounding
systems. For safety sake especially concerning circuit faults and lightning,
systems should be bonded, but 7 years ago during a meeting we had a big
discussion about isolating grounding systems pertaining to RFI problems.
One of the local A.M. stations had increased transmitter power with the
result of wild RF running all over the place. It seems standard AC service
ground systems stink for handling stray RF. Inspection authorities here
have been permitting the use of these systems for RFI problems for several
years now. But there are quite a few tests to be meet as to if one is
allowed to use them and very tight enforcement about what and where to use
them on.. I was always plagued by RFI until I went to this type of system.
Has anybody else on the group ran into this?
