Bill,
With the number of static sensitive devices in the K2 decided at this end to
play safe by purchasing both an anti static work mat and wrist strap when
building my K2. Both of these items have internal high value resistors to limit
any current passing to ground for user safety, though will drain any static
charge away safely. Essential when working on live circuits for personal safety.
(It is the volts that jolts, but is the mills that kills!)
The anti static work mat came with the instructions not to connect it to
power ground? As this is all I have at the workbench, noted there are anti static
bonding plugs available for this purpose made out of a 3 pin power plug and a
button connector connected to the ground pin via an internal 1M ohm resistor.
Made up something on similar lines only with a terminal on the outside of a 3
pin power plug for connecting the alligator clips for the wrist strap and work
mat via a 1M ohm resistor inside the power plug to the ground pin.
