I wanted a new power supply for my K2/100 to take out to the country house
I'm building in the middle of an Amish community in southern Ohio (I didn't
want to lug the Astron RS35M if I could help it) so, after doing a little
research and reading the QST reviews and, to a lesser extent, the eham
reviews, decided to pick up the Alinco DM-330MVT at Dayton this year. Due
to the various dealers deciding to have some price wars, I bought the Alinco
for $119, which is definitely a great price for a 32 amp switching supply.
One of the reasons I picked the Alinco: it has a control which will vary the
frequency at which it operates so one can "move" offending RF hash to a
different frequency.
Well, I needn't have bothered. Since Sunday I've played around with it and
have yet to find ANY RF hash from this small supply on ANY frequency. I've
taken the AstronRS35M completely off line and am now using the Astron for
everything. It's an amazing little switching power supply.
So, for those of you who might contemplate such a supply, I heartily
recommend it!
