The K2 was designed as a SSB/CW rig only and thus even with a transverter it
is still only SSB/CW.  However the XV series are transverters that are mode
independent and will do any mode that the base radio is capable of.
Therefore if you use an XV with a K2 you'll only have CW/SSB, however if you
use it with another HF rig that has FM/AM or any other mode the XV will be
capable of it.

I wonder why K2 and XV series have only CW and SSB modulation but not FM?
Maybe, the answer of this question is very simple but any point of view
would be appreciated.
