Pieter

I had already set a small forum up at http://www.proteluser.com/bbs2/index.php, but its intention
was to give an motivated (but easily distracted, eh Andy :-) ) user a place to see / map his
progress.

This was using phpBB with some additional mods to allow file attachments etc. It is not the best
software for the job, but its free.

But the host and software does not really matter if the users do not wish to participate or it
dilutes the content or focus on the subject matter itself. Its an argument I seen many times.

Only main argument in favour of a forum is that it can support file attachment and display inline
images, something not possible on a mail list as HTML and file attachments are really a no-no. But a
single forum for this purpose as an addition is a good idea, sometimes a picture can say a thousand
words....., never managed to display a waveform properly using ASCII art myself :-)

But the forum needs to be managed by a reliable host and backed up, I have seen too many forums fail
because they have been badly setup on peoples home machines using home PC on cable/ADSL links which
just cannot hack it.

Anyway, Eric, my apologies for the additional post on the subject.
