[Elecraft] K2 QRO or Not?

John,
My 10W K2 is my primary rig. The K2 made me into a dedicated QRPer - I even
sold my IC-756PRO - because the thrill of making contacts with low power
using a self-built radio beat anything I experienced using a 100W
shop-bought radio. I'm not going to change that. When a band's dead, it's
usually deader than the difference 10dB more power will make anyway. If I
can't hear anything, I'll go and do something else.
I've had the SSB option since it came out. I've had excellent audio
reports, but it has mostly been used for data modes such as PSK. I got
bored with the endless exchanging of brag files on data though, so now I'm
focusing on CW, which is definitely going to be the mode to use during the
sunspot doldrums.

Hello all,
I currently have a basic K2 (no options). This is my one and only rig.
I've been considering purchasing the 100W and SSB option to have the power
when needed as we slide down hill in the current sunspot cycle. There are
options here, such as purchasing a used 100W rig for the cost of the
upgrades or proceed with the K2 upgrades? Was wondering how many would
recommend the SSB and 100W option for the K2? It would also be interesting
to see how many people use their K2 as their primary rig.
