How about the most common situation- you don't inventory the kit, and
Elecraft's excellent quality control made sure everything is there?
In that case, you've saved the time for the inventory.
And, as far as I can tell, that's the most common situation.
I sort things (which incudes an inventory of some items), especially
capacitors, which I think makes assembly go much faster, but YMMV.

You don't believe in inventorying your kit...You spend 30 or 40 hours
assembling your radio, and near the end you discover that the thermal
pads for the finals are missing, or the speaker jack is missing...Now you
have to order the missing parts and wait for them to arrive, which can
take from a few days to a week...You have an almost finished radio
sitting on the bench and you can't do a thing...If you had discovered the
shortage before you started construction, the missing parts would have
been in your hands by the time you needed them...What have you saved by
not doing an inventory?...
