Do we understand this right? The receiver was still dead AFTER you  
switch to another antenna?
Did disconnecting the first antenna bring things back?

I have experienced somewhat similar conditions twice, both during last  
November's Sweepstakes. One was caused by an accidental switch to the  
RxAnt (still made 5 QSOs that way...). The other was caused by the big  
solar flare. The receiver came back after 30 minutes or so, when the  
ionosphere recovered... ;-)
