[Elecraft] K2 receiver going temporarily deaf

Thanks all who replied
Most everyone is pointing toward a short in the feedline and/or antenna. I
feel 99.9% confident the jumpers, connectors, feedlines etc. are fine.
Nothing but well-made 'premium' (Pomona, Belden, Amphenol, Buryflex, etc.)
goods here... no radioshack ;)
However, I did notice when I put the W9INN dipole up a couple weeks ago the
SO-239 'nut' on the balun was a bit loose (thus the SO-239 itself could
rotate in the center insulator) as I tightened the feedline to it. I
stopped, tightened the nut back up while holding the SO-239 in place but
maybe that's all it took and it 'broke' anyway. I have noticed some
intermittent high (4-5:1) SWR swings on it this past week. I was just
thinking (hoping?) it might be static charge from the T-storms/windy weather
we've had in the area lately. The KAT2 seemed to match it OK and the
receiver stayed 'dead' when I switched to the Sigma GT5.
I'll just replace the dipole center balun. Hopefully that will eliminate
these unnerving dead receiver 'events'.
Thanks again,
Mike K5PU
