[Elecraft] K2 receiver going temporarily deaf

I have some sort of an 'event' going on here where twice now my K2 has gone
temporarily stone deaf. While it is 'dead' I discovered the K2 would
receive normally if I disconnected the PL-259 (coax ground) shield. As long
as ONLY the center conductor is connected the K2 would receive fine. This
with the antenna connected to either ANT1 or ANT2.

The first time it happened (after about 10-20 minutes of frantic
troubleshooting) it somehow apparently 'cleared' itself and began receiving
fine again (with ground shield connected). I'm not sure what or IF I did
anything myself to resolve it. I gave out a big 'whew' and just chalked it
up to something odd happening.

A few days later it happened a second time. I tried to replicate what I did
previously but was unable to get the K2 to 'clear' itself like it did
previously. I finally shut everything down and decided to attack this with
a clear head in the AM. The next morning the K2 had 'fixed itself' again and
was receiving fine.

In the 2+ years I've had my K2 I've never had this happen before. Anyone
have a theory as to what is going on? Since it's 'self healing' I first
thought it might be F1 (thermal self-resetting fuse) coming into play but
looking at the schematic I see that would just shut the K2 down completely.

It's really bothersome for something like this to happen, not know what is
truly causing it then on top of that have it 'fix' itself without me knowing
how/why.
