Well I use one here at my QTH up only 20 feet or so on all bands
including the WARC bands. It is not the original design by Varney in
that mine has a 4:1 balun at the coax to ladder line junction. I also
use 450 ohm window ladder line while Varney used 600 ohm open wire.
However I find it does pretty well. I have over 100 countries on 15 & 20
M, 98 on 40, 94 on 10M and 48 on 80/75 to date (171 total , 122
confirmed). I have even forced it onto 160M with some success (35
states, 3 countries). If I could get it up higher it would probably
perform better.

I decided on this antenna because it was rather easy to construct and it
fit in the available space. I may try to get a 40 foot center support
and try it as an inverted V, that might give me a more omni directional
pattern and a lower angle of radiation on some of the lower bands.
