[Elecraft] How I Read The Elecraft Reflector

As far as the list content goes, I think that Wayne and Elecraft should be
the judges of what is appropriate and what is not. I find NON of the content
to be really out of scope and nothing to complain about. I have been a
member on and off since the list was started. All I can say is well done and
don't change a thing.

Subject: [Elecraft] How I Read The Elecraft Reflector

With all this talk about renaming the reflector, here I go, jumping in DEEP!
:-)

A long time ago, I set the reflector to "digest version," and everyday I
review the list of topics at the beginning of the digest to see if I have
interest in each one. I can see at a glance if the group is "heavy" on one
topic or another, some of which I have interest in, others that I don't. It
takes about 30 seconds for me to do that, and I'm done.

I also look at the message authors. There are several regulars on this
reflector who don't know me from Adam, but I know them to be highly
knowledgeable Elmers for me. Of course, Wayne and fellow Elecraft guys are
on that list of "Phil Westover's Elmers", but there are a bunch of others,
too. So no matter what the topic, I'll head to their submission, and
usually am not disappointed.

A few weeks prior to building my KX1, I copied and pasted every entry
regarding the building of KX1's into a document that I could take with me
and study, before even building the kit. When I did build the kit, I was as
ready as could be. I would recommend anyone who is building any of the
Elecraft products to do the same.

The way I see it, if I expect the list to include over-blown submissions on
any topic, then I'll get just that. If I expect the list to include
helpful, interesting submissions, then lo and behold, I get them!! Isn't
that magical?

K1 #220
K2 #2690
KX1 #282
(Oh yeah, XG1, N-gen, DL1; What? He hasn't built the BL1 yet? What's THAT
all about?)
