[Elecraft] OT Help for a nervous novice constructor (not a novice operator)

Hi all

A friend of mine started building his k2 now, he has had it for a long time
(# 01432, so 3+ yrs I think) without having the confidence to give it a go.

So I have started giving him a bit motivation by means of gentle friendly
pressure. 

But I am only one man. Being honest I was fed up with him saying he will
start tomorrow, always tomorrow :-)

I know he has great respect for the members of this list so for the duration
of his project, I have set up a small bbs, using some spare server / domain
space I have, to get him to post updates, his progress / experiences during
construction and to give his morale a bit of a boost. Its only been up a day
or so now.

If anyone has spare time to visit and give a little bit of support by saying
hi that would be great, I think a little hi from the K2 community might be
just what he needs so his momentum does not fade. 

Currently his biggest hurdle is the way he feels intimidated by his piers
because of his apparent lack of knowledge and his asking of apparently
'silly' questions. I do not subscribe to the idea that asking questions is
in any way silly, especially within such a community as amateur radio.

If he ever finishes it (you listening Andy?  :)  ) I will remove the site at
some point to reclaim the server space, as it will have served its purpose. 

If there is any information it contains that can be reused by the community,
the database is portable and can be moved to another server with its own
domain with a minimum of fuss.

Currently, as such, there is no front page link to it, so it is not public,
but its not intentionally that way, it is only because the space is on an
unrelated domain. 

The existence of the site is not confidential.
