I emailed the list about not being able to get any power out of the =
transmit on my KX1. I found the problem. Stupid mistake. I triple =
checked for soldering problems and all the normal stuff. Decided to =
start double checking the component values in the transmitter strip. =
Found the problem. R10, which is one of the bias resistors for Q5, is =
supposed to be 47 ohm. It was 470 ohm. I had put R10 in R23 and R23 in =
R10. 47 ohm as spposed to 470 ohm. I guess that is what happens when you =
are tired and old eyes.
Great radio! Better now that it transmits!
I have really built them all. The first QRP kit that I built was the A&A =
30 meter rig. Then lots followed. Oak Hills OHR 400, Cascade, NC40, =
Emtech, 38 special, K2, K1 and on and on. The only one that I have not =
built that I wanted to was the Sierra. But, and I say again BUT. Why =
would you want to? The Elecraft radios are light years ahead of anything =
that I have ever built. EASY directions, logical build sequence, I could =
go on and on. The K2 that I built, #272, fired right up first try. The =
K1 same thing. If I had not been stupid, this one would have as well.
Stupendous radio Elecraft. I am blown away. First contact tonight on 20 =
meters was W9JOP in Va Beach VA, 569. I am getting 4 watts out. It will =
be going with me to Hawaii next month. I still have to build the tuner =
and the 30 meter module, but I will wait a couple of days.
