Just wanted to say "thanks" for all the lovely e-mails, "ala" my post to the
reflector last night regarding my progress with my "rainy-day" ..K2
project..!

It was REALLY...pleasing, heart-warming, comforting...an all the other
"nice" things one can say, when I was "invaded" with such a HUGE response...
"...Thanks Guy's"....I mean that...  I've often said over the last 13 years
as a "Ham", ...even tho'..I have an "unhealthy fascination" with ALL things
"American"  (you name it ....I'm fascinated.....blame Starsky &
Hutch,...Convoy,...Dukes Of Hazzard ....if you like...fact is I HAVE..!!"

was born in the "wrong" country...!"   ...Well to be honest...I am "....A
Dis-Orientated Kiwi In The Nothern Hemisphere.."  really, as I was born
in Lower Hutt, Wellington,...New Zealand in 1966...!

But I guess y'all get the picture...!

We just DONT have...in my experience....the knowledge, and "compadre-ship"
over here,.....for QRP'er's at any rate.....unless of course you happen
to live in "G-Land"...!!!

Just wanted to let y'all (cant stop sayin' that now..!) about the findings,
...as far as reading's go with the first "Control Board" of my K2...which I
ommitted
to include in last nights post...

So here goes....(ALL critism, nicieties,...or otherwise welcome...)...the
multi-meter, as far as I know was set on the correct settings for reading
the
appropriate part,.....first DAY using a mult-meter..so pardon my
"ignorance"..(you gotta start somewhere)....



P2 Pin 1  "Wanted >10k"          I Got A Reading of  "Infinity"
U5 5v Pin  "Wanted > 2k"         I Got A Reading of  "4.76"
U4 8v Pin "Wanted 3 - 7k"        I Got A Reading of  "5.10"
Q1 Collector "Wanted >1M"     I Got A Reading of "Infinity"
Q2 Collector "Wanted >1M"     I Got A Reading of "Infinity"
U3 Pin 8 "Wanted >10k"           I Got A Reading of "1002"
U6 Pin 13 "Wanted >100k"       I Got A Reading of "Infinity"
U6 Pin 14 "Wanted > 100k"      I Got A Reading of "Infinity"
U6 Pin 29 "Wanted 70 - 90k"    I Got A Reading of "Infinity"
U6 Pin 30 "Wanted 70 - 90k"    I Got A Reading of "86.5"
U8 Pin 2 "Wanted >100k"         I Got A Reading of "Infinity"
U8 Pin 15 "Wanted >100k"       I Got A Reading of "Infinity"

SO...!  there you have it folks....the first "confirmed" readings, from the
initial tests....done with the K2 manual....on the K2 rig itself, with the
"Control Board"....

Now..!  Call me "sceptical" (or is that sceptic...!)  .....BUT..! to me
"there seems as if there is something .....not quite how it should be
here..."   OR ..am I just
being...a misery guts...!  Don't know...but "too many infinities" for my
likeing....Granted it "may" be correct but not sure....  My friend who
sometimes, "oversees" this project, and has "light years" more experience on
this sort of thing, infact ALL things electronic, than me,....has this to
say on the subject..."...Andy I don't know why your worrying......typically
when a multi-meter, shows readings as "infinity" (OR the letters "OL" on the
multi-meter I am currently using),...shows that
you are getting a reading that is FAR MORE, than what the manual is
asking.....thats a good things...shows that things are "well over spec" !!

Not Sure ....on that statement guys.....and beginning to fear the
worst.....!

I would welcome your "$1" on this guy's ....as over the last 2 - 3 weeks
since joining the group I have found both the "others" posts, and the advice
that y'all have
given ....to be invaluable....

If anyone would like to comment ....please do so...only thing I ask, is keep
the technical stuff to a "3 year olds" level ....so I can maybe get it to
sink in...!
