Andy,

First, welcome and congratulations on your progress.  Take your time and
enjoy the process.

If your resistance readings were anywhere within the range indicated in the
manual, all is fine.  Different DVM designs will show different resistance
readings because they use different voltages and currents to read
resistance, so don't be alarmed if the in-circuit readings are a bit off.
The greater than symbol in the resistance charts means exactly that - in
many instances the reading you obtain can be quite a bit higher than what is
indicated in the chart.
