I certainly endorse Brendan's Pactor TNC comments having done some
professional research with the Pactor 3 controllers as our system along with
5 watt transceivers.    100 mile ground wave communications could be
maintained at the 5 watt level!  Antennas were Force 12 vertical (multiband)
on base end, and at sea aboard ship the Rogers Folded Conical Helical, as
well as an MFJ Loop, and a hamstick.  This was all in the 10M band.
