[Elecraft] Help with VCO Alignment on K2

Hi
This problem comes up from time to time. Try squeezing the turns on T5 =
closer together. This should decrease the voltage some. If that does not =
work then remove T5 and rewind it with 17 turns on the primary. I have =
seen this enough times that I always wind T5 with 17 turns. I can always =
remove one turn if I need to a lot easier than add one turn.

Subject: [Elecraft] Help with VCO Alignment on K2
I've run into another problem I can't figure out with VCO alignment=20
during construction of my K2. (very new kit, bought in the last 4=20
months)
I'm at the stage were I'm suppose to set L30 to get a 6v reading =
across=20
the left side of R30. (VFO set to 4000khz) I had originally messed =
up=20
and installed the wrong slug tuned inductor for L30, but once I fixed=20
that, I still can't get the right voltage. Right now I'm reading a=20
swing of about 8v down to 6.3v, the voltage is stable, I just can't=20
dial it down far enough.
According to the instructions there are a number of things I could =
have=20
messed up. I already fixed the L30 problem and I'm 99% sure I have =
the=20
right cap in for C72. The only other thing suggested is winding of T5 =
could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure it is correct also for two =
reasons;=20
first because I bought them pre-wound and second because I've counted=20
them several times.
Any other suggestions on what I could have done wrong? Would putting=20
T5 in wrong screw things up like this? I haven't got to the point yet =
of pulling it off the board, but it was my next step.
Thanks,
Kenny, KU7M
