An update on my posting a few days ago.
I'm still at Alignment and Test, part 1.
I tested FP U4 with my DMM. The inside pin (the one farthest from the
edge of the board) measured .017 V; the outside pin measured 0 V.
Incidentally, I measured P1 pin 16, and it was 12.07 V, so I'm now pretty
sure that the problem is on the front panel board, because sufficient
voltage is at P1, in at least one spot. While I was testing P1, the
LEDs lit up, followed a moment later by E27 on the LCD.
After I get this thing built, my next task will be to learn to do
(especially, as in copy) CW faster than 6 or 7 wpm, and furthermore, to
survive in the wild and wooly (for the most part) world of CW, since most
people are so much faster than I am. I can relate to Mark, AI4BJ,
although I'm about 5+ wpm behind you, Mark! The G4FON software helps, as
does listening between about 7.100 and 7.130 in the late afternoon/early
evening for slower code (excepting, as Scott at Elecraft remarked, the
horrid QRM from across the pond).
