I'm doing the happy dance now that I have participated in my first EQP.
No, you won't find me among the winners when the results are posted, but
I am still a happy camper. I worked a total of five Elecrafters. Why
am I happy? Because I had such good results from my very unique
antenna. I live in an antenna-reatricted neighborhood, and my antenna
consists of my gutters and downspouts. With that grand antenna, I
worked VE1RGB in Halifax, Nova Scotia, K6SE in Palmdale, CA and K3WW in
PA. (The last two, I find out, are among the really big guns in
contesting.) But it is a wonder to me that I can reach Nova Scotia and
California using my K2, with the KAT2 driving my gutters and downspouts.
 A really great rig.

One thing that the contest taught me is that I really need more practice
sending and receiving CW. I had been avoiding operating because I
thought that my antenna was totally inadequate. Now I know better and
have no excuse. Now, back to my happy dance :-)
