Thanks to Don, Mike, and all who responded..
I sat down, did some reading, and proceded on to the N6kr method for adj.
c22. I thougt I had zero beated wwv, followed the procedure...and.......oh
no!! now I was 200hz off on sideband??
I spent a few hours for the next couple nights, and now have a few more
grey hairs....I think I ended up chasing my tail in circles.....so back to
the drawing board.
I went back to my radio shack freq. counter and did the procedure in the
manual as far as connecting the freq. probe to TP3...figuring I would at
least get it close. Well as it turned out, the freq. didn't seem to
PULL..so I ran CAL PLL, then CAL FIL. and...........BINGO!!!!
the freq. is RIGHT ON ...checked a cw station with the ft990 and the k2 at
the same time and it sounded like it was in stereo...then I fired up
spectrgram and WWV and it is right on. Then I went to 10000.00 and using
the n6kr method I checked between TP1 and TP2.....and it read..14913.60 and
4913.60 exactly 10000.00.
I now have a much better understanding of (what to look for in spectrogram
while tuned to WWV) and also what to be listening for when zero beating WWV,
and finally using some of the other equip. in the shack as test equipment.
It is a great feeling when you finally get it right, and with the support
and great people on this reflector it is hard not to get it right...
thanks guys,
Jim
