I was researching a UHF antenna for my HDTV, and stumbled accross this:
Note: The Telecommunications Act of 1996 allows residents of condominiums,
townhouses, or members of neighborhood associations to put up outside
antennas for reception of broadcast TV signals as long as those antennas are
not located in "common" areas and do not exceed 12 feet in height above the
peak of the roof.
The "Telecommunications Act of 1996" is a link to
http://www.fcc.gov/mb/facts/otard.html.
I don't remember the thread subject where a Condo user wanted to load up a
tv mast as an HF antenna, but maybe this law will help with the Association.
BTW: My research shows all the local HD sigs are in the 600MHz range, so the
extreme winds I expect at my mountaintop QTH are far less worrysome than if
I needed a VHF yagi too. Phew! I saw 106 mph January 2002!
